Sweet & Savory Beef Brisket

This was a tender brisket. I used the electric knife to cut it. This was the main dish for my birthday dinner this year.

Sweet & Savory Beef Brisket
Quick Cooking

1 fresh beef brisket — (3 to 3-1/2 pounds)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup grape jelly
1 envelope onion soup mix
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Place half of the brisket in a slow cooker. In a bowl, combine the ketchup, jelly, soup mix and pepper; spread half over meat. Top with the remaining meat and ketchup mixture. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender. Slice brisket; serve with cooking juices.

  1. Is this more sweet than not? I don't like my meat to be too much on the sweet side. But it does look good. Or is there some other ingredient you would recommend to substitute the jelly???

  2. Deb, not too sweet at all. The onion soup mix cuts the sweetness.
