Split Pea Soup

I found this recipe on May of 2003 on the internet. Very easy to make. I made this this past week when Don's parents were coming over. The picture is before I added the water and it cooked all day.

Split Pea Soup

16 ounces dried green split peas -- rinsed
1 ham bone
3 carrots -- sliced
1 medium onion -- chopped
2 stalks celery -- chopped
1 clove garlic (more as desired) -- minced
1 each bay leaf
1/4 cup fresh parsley -- chopped
1 tablespoon seasoned salt (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 quarts hot water

Layer ingredients in slow cooker, pour in water. DO NOT STIR. Cover
and cook on high 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until peas are
very soft and ham falls off bone.

Remove bones and bay leaf.

Serve garnished with croutons.

Freezes well.
